To enrich employees’ cultural and recreational life and strengthen teamwork and communication skills, on the afternoon of July 25th, a unique “Paper Cup Pyramid Building Competition” kicked off at the company’s open space, with eight teams from various departments competing.
The rules were novel and challenging: each team of 8 members held a string with a rubber band attached at the end. The team could only use the strings to control the opening and closing of the rubber bands to pick up and stack paper cups; no part of the body was allowed to touch the cups directly. The task was to build a complete four‑layer pyramid (4 cups on the bottom, then 3, 2, and 1 on top) that stood steady for 3 seconds. The team that completed the task in the shortest time won.
At the whistle, all teams quickly got into gear. The members formed a circle, held their breath, and precisely manipulated the rubber bands through the strings, carefully lifting, moving, and stacking the cups layer by layer. Calls of “a bit left,” “release,” and “steady” were heard everywhere, creating a tense yet lively atmosphere. Some teams operated smoothly, with cups landing firmly in place; others saw their towers topple midway, but they never gave up, swiftly adjusting their strategies and restarting. The cheers and applause from the sidelines intermingled, and colleagues, usually busy with work, demonstrated exceptional focus and teamwork.
After fierce competition, the General Administration Office won the championship with a steady rhythm and flawless cooperation, followed by the Assembly Team and the Welding Team as runner‑up and third place respectively. The host announced the results on site and informed that the prize money would be awarded at the next staff meeting.
A single string holds the team’s tacit understanding, and a paper‑cup pyramid builds the confidence of collaboration. In the future, Happy Tree will continue to organize diverse employee activities, allowing everyone to unite in joy and devote themselves to work and life with greater enthusiasm.
